Susan B. Silverman is the founder and principal of RxSUMELAW, a legal career consulting business with an expertise in career wellbeing. Pursuing her passion to assist attorneys’ professional development, Ms. Silverman counsels law students and attorneys regarding their career wellness, values, satisfaction, and goals. To further attorneys’ careers, she offers resilience, burnout prevention, and wellbeing programs. Additionally, Ms. Silverman has designed, planned, and conducted more than 30 career related programs, which included individual counseling, panel discussions, lectures, workshops, webinars, and business development and networking skills training.
To assist legal professionals find career satisfaction, Ms. Silverman offers interest/personality assessment guidance informed by key industry assessment tools, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and the Strong Interest Inventory®.
Throughout her professional career, Ms. Silverman is passionate and committed to helping attorneys grow and reach their greatest potential within their practice area and at their law firm.
Prior to founding RxSUMELAW, Ms. Silverman headed and managed the Chicago office of a national legal recruiting company. In that role, she used her legal experience, legal knowledge, business acumen, analytical, and interpersonal skills to recruit, interview, and assess candidates for job placement.
Ms. Silverman received her Juris Doctor (“J.D.”) degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. After graduating law school, Ms. Silverman was associate counsel for the U.S. Department of Defense where she investigated and researched procurement and employee relation matters. Later, Ms. Silverman was a judicial law clerk for an Illinois Appellate Justice where she researched and drafted bench memoranda and prepared judicial opinions for publication. After completing her clerkship, Ms. Silverman was an associate with the Chicago law firm, Hedlund, Hanley and John where she worked on commercial litigation matters. Ms. Silverman also earned a Master of Business Administration (“M.B.A.”) with a concentration in Industrial Relations from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In addition to her J.D. and M.B.A. degrees, Ms. Silverman is a Certified Practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and the Strong Interest Inventory®. Ms. Silverman received her Bachelor of Science with a major in Psychology from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
